Nestor Redondo's THE BIBLE

  1. Thank you for the great post on one of my favorite artists! I grew up during the 1970s and was fortunate enough to read Mr. Redondo's great work for the DC Horror titles. I lost my copy of Mr. Redondo's Giant Sized "The Bible" but recently bought one at a small convention in here in Texas. Strangely enough, it's an old library copy! It still has the small card holder glued to the inside front cover. It's in almost mint condition, which means it probably wasn't checked out a lot. Poor kids, they missed out on some fantastic art.

When I was growing up, I remember thinking that the artists from the Philippines were from Mexico (the names, Redondo, Alcala, Nino, etc. threw me off.) It wasn't until I read Anton Caravana's obituary in a Warren Magazine that I realized they were all from the Philippines. Since then, I've been on a serious collecting mission to find as much of their work as possible. My favorites are: Nestor Redondo, Alex Nino, Alfredo Alcala and Ernie Chan.

Again, thank you for your tribute to these fantastic artists (and the next generation as well!)
